In retaliation to the recent hacking of a BJP website, Indian hacker group ‘Indishell’ has sneaked into the webpage of the Pakistan government and hacked its site http://www.governance.pk/ and also two other Pak sites,
Though the hacking war between Indian and Pak hackers is nothing new, it's getting a new colour with more government websites getting hacked.
In the latest episode, the governance website of Pakistan and the Project Management Unit (PMU) of Muzaffarabad City Development Project (MCDP) websites were hacked.
The hackers who posted patriotic slogans asked Pakistan hackers to stay away from the Indian websites. The reason for the attack was the recent hacking of the official website of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Karnataka, which was hacked and defaced by ‘THA Disaster’.
According to cyber experts, the Pakistani hackers are randomly targeting the websites of various Political Parties & Organizations.
A slew of hacking activities by hacking experts ‘Indishell’ commemorating 26/11 has hurt the Indian cyber defence badly as close to 25,000 websites including that of governments, educational institutions and universities were hacked by Pakistani hackers in retalliation. Cyber experts warn the number will increase in the coming days.
McAfee, a leading antivirus company, has come up with threat predictions including high profile industrial attacks, cyber warfare demonstration and new hacktivist targets in the year 2012 also.
“Many of the threats that will become prominent in 2012, have already been looming under the radar in 2011,” said Vincent Weafer, senior vice president of McAfee Labs. “As per reported statistics 16,630 websites were hacked by Pakistani hackers and the number of non-reported hackings will be double that number" said Manu Zacharia, a member of Information Security Evangelist, a group of ethical hackers.
He said monthly average of the hacking is 1,385 with a daily average of 47 websites.
Mr Manu, winner of Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in Enterprise Security Stream for the last three consecutive years, added that 148 Kerala websites are controlled by the Paksitani underground cracking team.
